I was pleasantly surprised when I flipped through "Pillsbury Best of the Bake-Off Cookbook: Recipes from America's Favorite Cooking Contest
" to find out it was much more than cookies and pies. It has all sorts of salads and soups, main dishes and side dishes, and some really yummy appetizer ideas!There's over 410 recipes, and at least half of the recipes have pictures, which is always a good thing in a cookbook. Even if this book isn't up your alley, I'm sure there is someone on your gift list who would love a copy of this great book.

yum! this would be fantastic to brush up on my baking. i'm a bit cake-challenged, but my cookies are out of control :)
also, wanted to pass on that your sweet and spicy nuts are the biggest hit with my family. i came home for thanksgiving break on sunday, and i've already had to make 2 batches.
i made up my own version, too:
1/4 c brown sugar
1 tbl water
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
dash of vanilla
1 1/2 c pecans
heat the sugar and water until it carmelizes, add in the spices, stir in nuts.

I do love the bake-off cookbooks, and have since I received my grandmother's copies from the very first days of the Bake-Off. Those pictures, those odd names, but more importantly- the recipes that I can point to and say "OH! That's where mom got it!" The memories...
